Making your ground lamb home is elementary with a home meat grinder. Owning one also allows you to control the salt, fat, and other additives you add, which is especially important if you or a family member has food allergies or dietary restrictions.

A meat grinder is simple to use; all you have to do is place your meat in the hopper and turn it on. Most models come with two grinding plates, one for coarse grinding and one for fine grinding, and sausage tubes for stuffing sausage.

Our home appliance testing team in the Culinary Innovation Lab tested over a dozen meat grinders, from countertop models to tabletop models, including manual and electric models. We looked for models with easy-to-use controls and models that performed well for meat grinding and sausage stuffing. We also considered how much meat the various models could grind and how easy the models cleaned. Here are our picks for the best meat grinders for lamb:

LEM Products Stainless Steel Big Bite Electric Meat Grinder

The LEM Products Electric Meat Grinder is one of the best bargains in our Electric Meat Grinder Buyer’s Guide. It has a simple, four-option control panel, which makes it easy to use even for beginners. It comes standard with a fine plate, a coarse plate, and a stuffing plate, and it also comes with a meat pan and a plate extractor. The grinding head, which holds the grinding plate, has rifling that improves the suction of the meat on the grinding plate, and it helps push the grinding head forward, improving the flow of meat on the grinding plate and decreasing the number of cycles needed to grind the meat thoroughly. This model also has a crank on the side, which is excellent when you want to remove more meat from the grinding plate.

This model’s motor is smaller than the motor in our top pick, meaning it grinds meat more quickly than our top pick. It has good power and suction, which means the meat stays firmly on the grinding plate, and the motor stays quiet during use. The only downside is that this model is a bit smaller than our top pick, so you’ll need to ensure you have enough space on your countertop. It doesn’t come with an auger puller, so you’ll need to use your own or buy one separately.

ZHANGZHIYUA Commercial Vegetable Meat Cutting Machine Cutter

The slicing meat cutter is an economical and ideal tool for your cutting home needs, which is an excellent meat processing machine for home use. The steel blade of the slicer is sharp and durable, sharp enough to cut the meat without hurting hands or feet. The meat cutting machine is made of high-strength, high-grade steel, which is durable and reliable. It can save a lot of labor, and the meat cutting is more precise and neat. The slicer is easy to operate, and the hand wheel is high, so it is easy for people to use.

2-in-1Commercial Meat and Vegetable Cutting Machine Manual Meat Slicer

This meat slicer is a commercial grade machine that can reach up to 130 lbs/h for various thickness cuts, including 2.5mm, 3.0mm, 3.5mm, 4mm, 5mm, 6mm, 7mm, and 8mm. With the machine, you can cut steak, ribs, hamburger, chicken, pork, fish, etc., from 3.5mm to 8mm. It cuts pork, chicken, beef, fish, etc., into slices, strips, shreds, and dice, and you can also make meatballs, cut kelp, and treat mushrooms. The slicer is incredibly easy to clean and equipped with a stainless steel blade and 2.5D board. It’s ideal for butcher shops, restaurants, canteens, dumpling houses, hot pot restaurants, or home use.

Panasonic MK-G20NR Meat Grinder

This is a good meat grinder, but it doesn’t offer anything revolutionary. It’s a large, heavy-duty unit that assembles easily, but its design is a bit basic, and none of the included attachments are particularly exceptional. The motor and grinder head are well-built, and the motor has a helpful circuit breaker that shuts it off if it gets too hot. But the motor’s power isn’t exceptionally high, and it can struggle when grinding dense meats. The stainless steel cutting blade and plates are made of cheap plastic, and the blade gets gummed up after grinding just a few pounds of meat. We also found the meat grinder’s sausage attachment challenging to use, and it wasn’t easy to disassemble for cleaning since the grinder cap came off but stayed attached to the motor. On the plus side, the unit is relatively quiet and has banana plugs on its power cord, so it will work with older appliances that don’t have USB outlets.

Meat Grinder Electric Sausage Maker Machine 1200W

The Meat Grinder electric meat grinder is an easy-to-use, all-in-one kitchen appliance that is powerful enough to handle the most brutal meat cuts yet compact enough to store away easily. For the price, it’s not the lowest power meat grinder we tested. Still, it’s powerful and efficient, easy to use, and capable of grinding and chopping most kinds of meat and vegetables into sizes suitable for various recipes. The included attachments are convenient and versatile, and the meat pusher makes it easy to make professional-grade burger patties and meatballs. The heavy-duty stainless steel blades and grinding plates make it easy to julienne or mince vegetables, and the included accessories make light work of grinding meats into sausages or burgers. This grinder is powerful enough to handle tougher cuts, and it’s an excellent choice for people tired of chopping meat by hand. A great choice for anyone who wants a more efficient way to process meat, vegetables, or other foods into different sizes.

Meat Grinder Attachment for KitchenAid Stand Mixers

We tested the KitchenAid Meat Grinder Attachment against the current pick for the best handheld meat grinder, the Hamilton Beach 69610 Mini Food Grinder. This model was a lot cheaper, but it had a lot of drawbacks, including flimsy plastic construction, rough grinding with tougher meats, and a lower power setting. This model was made more for fruits and vegetables than meat and didn’t handle the grinding of harder cheeses well. The KitchenAid Meat Grinder Attachment was the same price for all its flaws. This model was better in every way, and it’s a better value, too. This model is a little noisier than our previous pick, but it’s not much more so, and given the low-grade silicone components, we didn’t expect much extra noise. Still, it grinds meat more efficiently than our previous pick, and its attachments have more durable and better quality components. For the price, we think it’s the best pick for handheld meat grinders.

Electric Meat Grinder, Heavy Duty Meat Mincer, Stainless Steel

This meat grinder combines the power and convenience of an electric model with the ease and capacity of a manual one. The Habano Electric Meat Grinder has a powerful motor that can get meat ground relatively quickly, and it grinds beef, pork, and other meats just fine. A safety lock prevents the unit from turning on if the motor gets too hot, and the motor can be turned off manually or automatically via a button. The sausage kit allows you to make sausage, and it has a rubber attachment for making kubbe. The kubbe creates meat curds that resemble mozzarella, and one of the excellent features is that the kubbe attachment drains off extra liquid as it grinds. The grinder is made of stainless steel and easily disassembles for cleaning. The one drawback to the Yabano Electric Meat Grinder is that it doesn’t have a sausage stuffer function (it’s just a meat grinder). However, there are sausage stuffers available separately—no complaints from me.

LEM Products 1158 Mighty Bite Electric Meat Grinder

The LEM Products Mighty Bite Meat Grinder is big, bulky, and expensive but delivers on quality performance. It’s a powerful, high-speed grinder that will let you make fine or coarse ground meat, sausage, or pastrami. The 500-watt motor is powerful enough to easily crush bones as small as a fingernail and grind through tough meat. The 5-lb. meat hopper holds plenty of meat for an average family-sized dinner. The chute is broad, so it’s easy to feed large pieces of meat to the drill. In addition, the head has a beefy # 8 hole so that you can add more significant chunks of meat to the drill. The 18-oz. stainless meat pan is easy to clean and resists rust. And it comes with two stuffing tubes so you can use it to stuff your homemade sausages. The meat auger/spike is easy to clean, too. The grinder is ETL certified, has non-skid feet, and is backed by a one-year warranty. Overall, the Mighty Bite Meat Grinder is an easy-to-use, high-speed grinder that will make seasoned cooks’ jobs easier.

STX International Turboforce 3000 Heavy Duty 5-In-1 Powerful Size Meat Grinder

The Turboforce 3000 is a very tough grinder that won’t quit. It’s great for high-volume use in a home kitchen; the sausage stuffer attachment makes it easy to make fresh sausages. The kibbe and caul fat attachment makes making kibbe much easier, and the built-in burger and slider maker is handy. However, it’s a bit difficult to make perfectly round burgers. The only drawback of this grinder is that we had no success making ground meat into a sausage, and the sausage stuffing plate and tube are tiny. The grinding head is powerful and has a metal cutting blade, so it can handle more significant chunks of meat without a problem, though it can be a little hard to clean. It’s probably not the best choice if you are primarily looking for a grinder that grinds bones. And, at $280, it’s considerably more expensive than the pricier models in our testing, so you’ll have to be OK with the fact that it won’t handle bones or produce perfect burgers.

Sunmile SM-G33 Electric Meat Grinder

The Sunmile electric meat grinder is sturdily constructed, with a removable motor and stainless steel components. It also has a large capacity, grinding up to 170 pounds of meat per hour. It has a powerful motor, but a well-designed, insulated cover keeps the noise down. We have a 3.5-star rating for the grinder, which has some flaws. First, its grinding mechanism produces noise, and the motor gets very hot. Second, the grinding power was inconsistent, with tougher cuts often producing more meat than softer ones. Third, we couldn’t get the grinder to make fine mince, so chopping the more delicate cuts with a knife was a hassle. But overall, the grinder is well-made, and it will do for most home kitchens for its price.
